Langatun Distillery is famous for its excellent and rare range of barrels, whisky aging and intense whisky color palette with incomparable flavors. The diverse flavors of the grape juice also inspire our master distiller, who enthusiastically combines the flavors of wine and whiskey, balancing them and blending them into a complex taste experience. Both white wine casks and red wine casks are used for maturation. Aromatically, the maturation of single malts in wine casks opens up completely new possibilities. The flavors of our Langatun whiskey are expanded and complemented and the complexity increases. We want you to discover a variety of different interesting flavors.

SINGLE MALT WHISKY

After a pre-storage in a Chardonnay barrel, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, the single malt whiskey is still transferred for a post-maturation period of a few months in a Cardeira red wine barrel from Portugal to give the whiskey additional berry and red wine nuances. The Herdade da Cardeira winery is located in the Alentejo. In the upper third of Portugal, between the Tagus and the Algarve, the Atlantic coast and the Spanish border, the Alentejo takes its place. In the northeast grows wine, in the south mainly cork oaks. The wine region is gaining more and more importance. It is winemakers like Erika Suter and Thomas Meier who, with creativity and commitment, produce powerful, full-bodied red wines and aromatic white wines. The full-bodied and fruity flavors are fused with strong red wine aromas in this single malt whisky.

Aroma: Blackberries, embedded apples, red wine aromas.

SINGLE MALT WHISKY

The Langatun Priorat Cask Finish is the first bottling in our Cask Finish series, which is 10 years old. After a pre-storage in a Chardonnay cask, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, the single malt whiskey was still transferred for a post-maturation period of 19 months in a Priorat red wine cask made of French oak and has finally yielded just 495 bottles. Priorat is Catalonia's oldest wine-growing region and is one of Spain's most important wine-growing areas. The impressive vineyards produce very low yields that have a remarkable concentration. Thus, this single malt whiskey still contains many red wine nuances and wonderful wood aromas, which come across very intense, but united in elegant harmony.

Aroma: Fresh roses, nutmeg, cloves, beautiful oak notes combine with the wine notes.
Palate: Smooth, marzipan, creates a wow effect, banance between sweetness & spiciness, Amarena cherries.
Finish: Long with pleasant spice, lingering flavors of Amarena cherries.

The wine Cruz de Alba comes from the area of Los Hoyales. A vineyard that extends over 40 hectares, in the middle of the golden mile of the Ribera del Duero wine region, between the towns of Valladolid and Peñafiel.
One of the most important features that characterize this wine is the sandy soil on which it grows. This is an extremely particular soil that gives the wine its delicacy and elegance. This is also reflected on the oak barrel which has given this wine beautiful balanced tannins & tannins, this conjures the Langatun Single Malt Whisky which was allowed to mature for about 1 year in this barrel a beautiful almost sherry cask sweetness.

Aroma: Raisins, fruity sweet wine notes.
Palate: Velvety smooth, creamy sweetness, raisins.
Finish: Ripe sweet wine, burnt cream, long lasting.

SINGLE MALT WHISKY

After a preliminary storage in a Chardonnay barrel, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, this special single malt whiskey is transferred for a few more months for the special finish in an American oak sherry barrel to give the whiskey its additional fine flavors. We are currently working with a Pedro Ximenez sherry cask. The most important country of cultivation for Pedro Ximénez is Spain. Especially in the sunny south of Spain this grape variety is cultivated. Andalusia is the world leader when it comes to cultivating the sweet berries. The pleasant spicy sherry notes combine perfectly with the beautiful sweet vanilla and wood notes of the Chardonnay barrel and round off the whiskey harmoniously. A long lasting finish with the typical sherry notes of Pedro Ximenez lingers on the palate.

Aroma: Nice pleasant spicy sherry notes, fine oak aromas, hint of lavender scent.
Palate: Convincing sherry spice nice inviting pink pepper notes, salted caramel.
Finish: Pleasant long-lasting typical sherry notes.

LANGATUN CHATEAU KEFRAYA CASK FINISH

SINGLE MALT WHISKY

After a pre-storage in a Chardonnay barrel, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, the single malt whiskey is still transferred for a post-maturation period of several months in a Chateau Kefraya red wine barrel from Lebanon to give the whiskey intense red wine nuances. Chateau Kefraya is located in the western Bekaa Plain and has been owned by the Bustros family for generations. In 1946, the estate was built on an artificial hill that the Romans had already used to observe troop movements. The vineyards extend over 300 hectares on terraced slopes of Mount Barouk at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. The vines enjoy exceptional sun exposure, which is beautifully displayed in this single malt whisky.

Aroma: Sweet, fruity, candied orange peel, red wine notes.
Palate: Intense, aromatic, slightly oily, pink pepper, orange peel, marzipan, blueberries.
Finish: Long lasting, slightly spicy, toasted aromas, gingerbread.

After a pre-storage in a Chardonnay barrel, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, this single malt whiskey is still transferred for a post-maturation period, the so-called finish, for a few months in a port wine barrel to give the whiskey additional nuances. The typical fruity aroma and dried fruits of port wine emerge very nicely and round off the whiskey perfectly. In the finish we detect subtle wood and spice notes.

Aroma: Notes of fresh oak, dark chocolate.
Palate: dark chocolate, coffee notes, slightly dry.
Finish: cocoa notes, fine noble bitterness.

The Langatun Arinzano Cask Finish is a bottling in our Cask Finish series. After more than four years of pre-storage in a Chardonnay barrel, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, the single malt whiskey is still transferred for a post-maturation period of 11 months in a red wine barrel made of French oak and then finally resulted in 498 bottles. The red wine barrel comes from the Arínzano winery in northeastern Spain. The grapes used for the wine in our handpicked barrel were grown under ideal climatic conditions in an exceptionally good year. The slow ripening of the grapes makes this wine a unique drop and gives the barrel its wonderfully intense and fruity aroma.

Aroma: Gingerbread spices, beautiful oak notes, caramel.
Palate: Noble spiciness, sweet and sour pineapple, fruit toffee.
Finish: Fruity with aromas of pineapple, with fine sweetness, lingering pleasant oak notes and toffee.

SINGLE MALT WHISKY

The Langatun Barbera Cask Finish is a new bottling in our Cask Finish series. After pre-storage in a French oak Chardonnay cask, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, the single malt whiskey was still transferred to a Barbera cask from Piedmont for a post-maturation period of 10 months. Barbera is certainly one of the archetypal Piedmontese grape varieties, grown in the dreamy surroundings of the Monferrato hills. The Barbera cask, selected on site by our master distiller, served 3 years of aging for various typical Barbera d'Asti red wines, which give this whiskey bottling a wonderfully powerful and fruity note. The bottling is limited to 496 bottles.

Aroma: Beautiful wood notes, red berries, spice bouquet, caramel.
Palate: Dark chocolate, nicely balanced red wine notes with integrated oak nuances, typical recognizable Langatun melting.
Finish: Long lasting spiciness, reminiscent of dark chocolate & fine espresso.

LANGATUN QUINTA DO ZAMBUJEIRO CASK FINISH

Quinta do Zambujeiro, a wine from the famous Portuguese wine region of Borba. Our Langatun was aged for almost 6 years in one of these noble barrels formerly used for this wine. The wonderful complexity of our Langatun, combined with nuances of the grape varieties used for this wine, results in a perfectly balanced single malt. This symbiosis helped our whisky, out of 60 different single malts sourced from all over the world, to receive the award as World Best Single Malt. Langatun Whisky have been playing in the "Champions League" of world-premiered single malts for several years now. We are very proud of this.
On the palate, roasted aromas, dried raisins and prunes combine with roasted nuts. Full-bodied on the palate and long-lasting on the finish. A malt for special occasions.

SINGLE MALT WHISKY

Madeira wine may only be produced on the island of Madeira, southwest of Portugal. Similar to port wine, Madeira's natural fermentation is stopped after a certain time so that the sugar contained in the must does not ferment completely. This gives the wine a particularly intense sweetness. What is unusual in the aging of Madeira is that the barrels used in the traditional process are stored for several months at high heat (up to 75 degrees!). This Langatun whisky with Madeira finish is available in 49.12% alc by volume. The whisky was previously matured for several years in a Chardonnay cask and was finally post-matured in a Madeira cask, which gives it the soft character and dark amber color. On the nose we smell marzipan, pepper with pleasant sweet Madeira notes. On the palate, notes of fresh oak combine with dried fruits in a pleasant way, harmoniously combining with the strong Madeira aroma. The finish is long-lasting with warming oak notes and a hint of fine spices.

After a pre-storage in a Chardonnay barrel, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, this single malt whiskey is still transferred for a post-maturation period of a few months in a rum barrel to give the whiskey additional nuances.
The typical fruity sweet aroma of rum emerge very nicely and round off the whiskey perfectly. In the finish we detect light pepper notes.

Aroma: Fruity rum notes, spicy, fully ripe mango.
Palate: Dark chocolate, balanced wood notes.
Finish: Light pepper notes, rum pralines.

SINGLE MALT WHISKY

After a preliminary storage in a Chardonnay barrel, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, the single malt whiskey is still transferred for a post-maturation period of two years in a Rioja red wine barrel of American oak to give the whiskey its additional fine flavors. We are currently working with an American oak red wine cask from Bodega El Coto de Rioja. The barrel comes from the renowned wine region of La Rioja in northeastern Spain. The wine region of Bodega El Coto de Rioja is protected by the Spanish seal D.O.Ca (Denominación de Origen Calificada) and produces excellent wines. Thus, this single malt whisky still contains many red wine nuances and berry aromas, which give it balanced flavors and elegant harmony.

Aroma: Subtle wine aromas, vanilla, sweet malt, pink pepper.
Palate: Elegant harmony of red wine, oak and whiskey, roasted almonds, full-bodied.
Finish: Pleasant tingling warming sweetness, balanced oak notes.

LANGATUN NERO D’AVOLA CASK FINISH

After a pre-storage in a Chardonnay barrel, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, this single malt whiskey was still transferred for a post-maturation period of one year in a rum barrel to give the whiskey additional nuances.
Loosely translated, Nero d'Avola means "black from Avola" - Avola is a town in the very south of Sicily in the province of Syracuse. The Nero d'Avola grape variety is the most important grape in Sicily. The wine is usually deep dark, which also gave the single malt whisky aged in it a strong red hue. This Nero d'Avola Cask Finish was distilled in 2014 and then post-matured for one year in a Nero d'Avola cask at Schuler Cooperage. Full aromas of plums reflect the heritage of this Nero d'Avola cask. This cask finish whisky is very limited and is available at cask strength.

Aroma: Notes of fresh oak, dark chocolate.
Palate: Dark chocolate, coffee notes, slightly dry.
Finish: cocoa notes, fine noble bitterness.

SINGLE MALT WHISKY

Sauternes wines are produced from the Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grape varieties. The main variety, with around 70 to 80 percent, is the Sémillon grape, as it is particularly susceptible to noble rot. Sauvignon Blanc, with 20 to 30 percent, gives the wines the necessary acidity to complement the full, broad flavor of Sémillon. Muscadelle is used sporadically for its aroma. The effort and risk for this Sauternes wine are high and the yields extremely low. Yields are limited to a maximum of 25 hl/ha; Yquem averages 9 hl/ha.
After a pre-storage in a Chardonnay barrel, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, the single malt whiskey is still transferred for a post-maturation period of 15 months in a Sauternes barrel from the Grand Cru "Château Sigalas" to give the whiskey the typical Sauternes notes, and additional sweetness. A very fine single malt whisky. The typical Sauternes notes stand out clearly.

Aroma: Soft barley sugar and butterscotch notes, with a clear fruity influence of the wine casks.
Palate: Brown sugar, nectarine and mint. Another wave of butterscotch sweetness.
Finish: Fruity finish of fried banana and honeydew melon.

LANGATUN MARSALA CASK FINISH

SINGLE MALT WHISKY

The Langatun Marsala Cask Finish is a new bottling in our Cask Finish series. After a pre-storage of 8 years in a Chardonnay cask, which gives the whiskey a delicate sweetness with beautiful vanilla and wood notes, the single malt whiskey is still transferred for a post-maturation period of 10 months in a Marsala cask made of French oak. Marsala, named after the port city of the same name in Sicily, is an Italian sweet and dessert wine with tradition. The peculiarity of its production process is that the Italian fortified wine is mainly made only from white grapes or only from red grapes. The Marsala then undergoes the aging process according to the solera system. This single malt whisky has a pleasantly sweet aroma of tobacco and sweet oak notes enchant the nose. They combine with aromas of marzipan, caramelized tree nuts and the typical whisky notes. Fine marzipan and peanut notes linger long.

Aroma: Lovely fragrant tobacco, sweet oak notes.
Palate: cherry compote, marzipan, caramelized tree nuts, typical whiskey notes with wow effect.
Finish: Pleasantly warming, persistent fine marzipan, pink pepper and peanut notes.
