Rum is usually made from sugarcane molasses. Molasses is the honey-like dark brown sugar syrup which is a byproduct of sugar production. Molasses still contains about 50% sugar, which can not be crystallized anymore.
Molasses rum, in contrast to the stronger and more fruity rums made from fresh sugarcane juice, usually with a mild sweetness, an intense vanilla flavor and a round taste.
Our “Rum 1616” is made from South American organic sugar cane molasses, which we ferment with a special strain of yeast and then distilled gently and slowly in a still pot method 2 times.
